Unit First Sergeant
Description of Duties Required by Position:
Unit First Sergeant, responsible for the health, welfare, training, education of all subordinate students assigned numbering no more than 35 total. Ensures good order and discipline while unit is on active duty, maintains documentation of both favorable and unacceptable conduct of cadets assigned. Ensures the company commander is informed, supported, and mentored in all military matters at unit level. Instructs assigned students in leadership/human resource management at initial and intermediate supervisory level. Instructs in US Army dismounted close-order drill and Army Physical Readiness Training and testing.
The Unit First Sergeant also ensures accountability of all assigned personnel. Reports directly to the company commander any issue requiring his or her attention and or action. Primary instructor for military science in given field as the resident subject matter expert (SME). Ensures all areas assigned are clean, neat, and in serviceable condition. Reports any facilities maintenance requirement that must be out-sourced to CSM. Military experience not required but is considered a plus. Oregon Department of Education highly qualified certified teachers a plus. If former military, please include a copy of DD form 214 discharge with application. Salary starts at $24,500.00 annually. Conducts core academic classes IAW ODE requirements. Conducts pre-and post-testing. Records results and delivers grades on order, on time.
Responsible for the health, welfare, training, and education of all personnel assigned to unit. Adjudicates and administers justice IAW PYCO section 400 regulations. Recommends cases to BC that may call for suspensions, discharges, or BN CCA action. Establishes and maintains contact with parents and guardians. Supports unit 1SG including during military science weeks and the annual FTX. Ensures students are recognized/rewarded when he or she performs above the standards. Ensures that personnel assigned are supervised by a uniformed staff member at all times. Supervises free/lunch time during military science weeks. Ensures classroom, assigned common areas, and outdoor police area is maintained, clean, organized, and orderly. Maintains an open door policy and reports to the Battalion Commander and must be highly qualified and certified by the Oregon Department of Education. Both Willamette Leadership Academy and PYCO Board of Directors are looking for qualified members. Willamette Leadership Academy's Board of Directors acts as the school board for WLA. WLA Board meets once a month. The PYCO Corporate Board of Directors directs the mission and operations of the PYCO program. PYCO board meets monthly. PSA membership is open to parents and guardians of all WLA cadets. Your involvement in your child's school is a valuable contribution to their success.
